Before the conference

  • Registration and conference fee

    Registration closes on 31 October 2023. Please get in touch with office@ne-mo.org if you have any questions.

    Register to the conference

    The conference ticket includes access to all conference offers, including meals and receptions.

    General tickets
    • The conference fee is 180 euro.
    • Students receive a 50% discount (90 euro). Please present student ID.
    Special offers for members of NEMO
    • 2 representatives per NEMO member organisations participate free of charge. Please present NEMO membership number.
    • Additional delegates from the member organisation pay a discounted fee of 130 euro per person. Please present NEMO membership number.
    Special offers for museum colleagues in Lahti and Finland

    We want to encourage participation from our colleagues in Finland to connect with their European colleagues. Therefore, we offer reduced fees for:

    • People working at Finnish museums and heritage organisations, who receive a 50% discount (90 euro).
    • Staff members at museums in Lahti, who attend the conference free of charge.

    NEMO's European Museum Conference targets:

    • Museum management, museum educators, curators, sustainability managers, researchers and everybody else active in the museum sector.
    • Representatives from museum umbrella organisations and museum networks.
    • Culture policy makers on national and European level, culture professionals, activists, students, and service providers for museums.
  • Travel

    We recommend that you look into your travel to Lahti as soon as possible. Please consider green travel options such as trains or to off-set the carbon emission caused by your travel.

    Lahti is located about an hour from Helsinki by train or car. Below we have gathered some information regarding travel options from the website of Visit Lahti.

    Train connections from Helsinki Airport to Lahti

    After landing at Helsinki airport, you can easily walk from the arrivals hall to the airport’s railway station and stay indoors the entire way. The fastest connections from Helsinki Airport to Lahti take less than an hour with a change in the city Tikkurila.

    Finnlines Ferry to Helsinki or Naantali

    Finnlines offers ferry trips from Germany to Helsinki and from Sweden to Naantali. Pack your car and drive onboard. Ports are conveniently located; the port of Helsinki approximately an hour’s drive from Lahti and Naantali is about 3 hours away.

    Long-distance train and commuter trains from Helsinki

    All long-distance passenger trains stop at Lahti.

    You can reach Lahti once an hour on Helsinki Regional Transport’s Z commuter train. The journey from Helsinki along the fast track takes an hour.

    Regional trains (H trains) travel from Lahti in the directions of Riihimäki–Helsinki and Kouvola–Kotka. They stop at most stations along the way.

    Bus connections to Lahti

    Lahti has excellent bus connections from the Helsinki metropolitan area as well as other places in Finland. Lahti Bus Station is located in the Lahti Travel Centre together with Lahti Railway Station.

  • Accommodation

    The hosting organisation, the Finnish Museums Association has arranged two hotel offers for your stay in Lahti while attending NEMO's European Museum Conference 2023.

    To secure one of the discounts refer to the NEMO European Museum Conference when booking.

At the conference

  • Public transport and taxi

    Public transport

    Local and regional bus transport is carried out by LSL. The ticket prices are based on traveling zones and customer groups. LSL recommends visitors and tourists to pay with contactless card, mobile tickets (via the app) or day tickets.

    Taxi

    Taxis are reliable in Finland. You may jump in any taxi marked with yellow sign and you’ll have the same price. There are several taxi services in Lahti. Below you will find their websites and phone numbers.

  • Venues

    Most of the conference programme will take place at the main conference venue Sibelius Hall.

  • Covid-19 safety measures

    At the moment there are no Covid-19 regulations in Finland which would impact our conference. However, we encourage you to show solidarity with others and get tested before embarking on your travel. Please be mindful of other people's wishes about maintaining distance, shaking hands, etc.

    At all venues, the host is providing us with disinfectant and we ask you to please use it regularly in addition to thoroughly washing your hands.
