NEMO and its partners sincerely hope that the visitors at A Museum Night Out – Dance at the Museum left the event with a new, or greater, understanding of how museums can be part of connecting people and that cultural heritage can contribute to a strong feeling of a shared identity.

The event A Museum Night Out - Dance at the Museum was organised by NEMO within the framework of the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018 (EYCH2018). It was part of the series of events organised within the European Cultural Heritage Summit "Sharing Heritage - Sharing Values" from 18-24 June 2018 in Berlin, Germany, with the aim of celebrating museums and European cultural heritage together with the general public as well as professionals.

The European Cultural Heritage Summit "Sharing Heritage – Sharing Values” represented the largest and most visible event organised in Europe within the EYCH2018. More than 1000 participants, among them high-level policy makers from national and European level, visited Berlin during the week of events, organised by different stakeholders of the European cultural heritage sector. The event A Museum Night out - Dance at the Museum represented the only event organised by the European museums sector.

Earlier on the same day, the free one day conference Cultural Heritage Communities and Audiences in Today’s Digital Environment was held in the Museum für Kommunikation Berlin. DJ Professor Pier Luigi Sacco, Special Adviser to the European Commission in the Field of Cultural Heritage, was also invited to the conference as a key note speaker. Access more information about the conference here.

This event has been awarded with the European Year of Cultural Heritage Label, showing that the event supports the role of Europe’s cultural heritage and its importance to cultural diversity and intercultural dialogue. Learn more about obtaining the label from NEMO here.
